What type of care does the New Jersey Firemen’s Home provide?
The New Jersey Firemen's Home provides extended-stay nursing care to firefighters with varying levels of needs in Boonton, NJ.
Who is eligible to come to the Home?
Any firefighter male or female paid or volunteer with 1 year of service.
**As of April 1, 2024, Any person who joins the fire department, must complete seven years of active duty to qualify for the home.
What are the monthly costs?
The monthly costs for room and board is $850, which includes 24-hour skilled nursing care. THIS FEE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED AS OF OCTOBER 1st, 2022, and could be reinstated at a later date.
What are the visitation hours?

Do you have an assisted living?
We offer a Residential Living Section for those who qualify.
Can I tour the Home?
Yes you can visit the home by making an appointment to visit or by taking a virtual tour on our virtual tour page.
What is the procedure to obtain admittance?
We need a fully completed application which can be obtained from your county manager, the admissions page, or by mail.
What is the capacity of the Home?
Currently we have 96 beds, 82 for long-term care (including 10 memory care beds) and 14 for residential.
Is the Home regularly inspected?
Yes the Home is licensed and regularly inspected by the NJ State Department of Health and Senior Services.
What are some activities provided for the guests?
The Recreation Dept. has a monthly calendar filled with daily activities from games, men’s club, cooking club, religious services, bingo, trips, socials, pet therapy, and much more.
